Be sure to keep these items out of your trash. Read below for details on how to recycle them. If you have questions, contact: sthompson@lancasterma.net.

Your efforts are making a difference! Last year, Lancaster collected more than 423 tons of recyclables. That included enough paper to save 6,248 trees and enough plastic soda bottles to make 8,640 fleece jackets. Enough energy was saved by recycling aluminum cans to run 63 refrigerators for a year. You have helped make our recycling program a success. With your continued commitment, we will achieve our recycling goals. Keep up the good work!



Glass

·  Glass bottles/jars, all colors and sizes

·  No broken glass or other glass items such as glasses, window glass, dishes, Pyrex, ceramics, or light bulbs
Paper

·  Newspapers/inserts, paper bags

·  Magazines, phonebooks

·  Junk mail, mixed paper

·  Corrugated cardboard (flatten)

·  No waxed cardboard or soiled paper
Metal

·  Aluminum/tin/steel cans and lids - must flatten cans

·  Deposit and non-deposit beverage cans

·  Aluminum foil and trays

·  No cans containing hazardous material

·  Tube TVs $5 - $10 fee
Plastic

·  All types of plastic containers with numbers 1 through 7 clip_image002.jpg

·  No styrofoam or bubblewrap
··  No used motor oil containers

·  No plastic bags
