Greetings,

I hope you had a chance to browse the Crier. I would like to take a minute to remind you of a few important dates, some that did not make it to this months issue and are coming up soon!  I have noticed some of you must be on vacation. We do have the air conditioning on... so no excuse not to join us for Tai Chi and Yoga and Insanity and of course meals and just to say hi. Escape the heat!

First the state passed the sales tax holiday which will be this weekend, August 11-12. Most purchases this weekend are tax free, need more details follow this link. https://www.mass.gov/regulations/830-CMR-64h18-2018-sales-tax-holiday. Shopping styles have changed, many of us now go right to Amazon for purchases, though my first suggestion would be make sure you go local. If you decide shop on line think about shopping for a cause through Amazon Smile. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible purchases to the Friends of the Lancaster Seniors, Inc. when you shop Amazon Smile (smile.amazon.com). Amazon Smile is the same Amazon you know. They offer the same products, prices and service. To register for Amazon Smile, simply follow these three easy steps: 1. Go to Amazon smile and sign into your Amazon account. 2. Type “ Friends of the Lancaster Seniors.” in Search Bar. 3. Select Friends of the Lancaster Seniors, Inc.” as your charitable organization.  Try to make this your link for all our shopping. http://friendsofthelancasterseniors.org/index.html Friends of the Lancaster Seniors, Inc.PO Box 173, Lancaster, MA 01523

Did you notice our Homemade Resturant Quality Lunches on Thursdays.. Sue Franks is quite the cook, this week I watched her whip up a delicous homemade lunch with grilled corn, purple peppers, our garden tomoatoes and more. Lunch included homemade lemonade, ice tea, grilled chicken, fresh herbs and homemade dressings all for only $5. Coming up in furture weeks are  Roasted Veggie Kabobs, Tomatoe time (my favorite bruschetta and more), Finishing the month with ribs, corn and maybe some roasted potatoes.

Next week we start binging on Castle Rock on our amazing new giant screen. So much fun to watch with friends- you will recognize Lancaster scenes - and yes it is scary. Not the price though, free! Come enjoy lunch next Wednesday (reserve ahead please) or Pot Luck it Thursday evening. Details in the Crier.

There is lots more going on but I wanted to write before the sales tax holiday. Think of us if you are buying on Amazon.  Spend wisely and buy local if you can!

Hope to see you soon,

Alix

p.s. If you see Melissa Pelletier around the office wish her well! Lancaster is lucky as she is leaving us at the COA....(no --that is not the lucky part)  teh lucky part is she will be spending even more time with us.
